Oh it's a new fresh year, so it's time to make our fitness goals of course. Did you know 80% of people who join a gym in January quit going or cancel their membership within the first 5 months?
I was having a conversation with someone over lunch and heard myself say out loud, "I don't make fitness goals because they mess with my psyche." Didn't know I felt that way- but okay Molly!
I will be honest, they really do. Another honest moment coming at you: If you work as much as I do, and have a commute on both ends- congratulations if you make it to the gym 2-3 times a week. I like to work out, and eat healthy, but it's not the only thing I like to do!
In the past, if I made a goal to work out so many times a week or not eat sweets- I would restrict myself into a hole of deprivation, fail, and then be depressed. Sounds healthy to me.
Some of you might think this is a cop-out and that I don't care how I look or what goes into my body. Wrong! I do care, and I do work out- no excuses here.
I just don't want to become someone who can't go a minute without talking about healthy food and fitness and reprimand myself when I make a "bad" decision. What kind of life is that?
Yes we should have limits. I don't eat a piece of chocolate cake every day- that's above my limit. Ha.
But if you do- that's YOUR limit. It's OKAY.
Don't let people put you into a box of "He/she must not care since they didn't make that their resolution."
Bottom line: do what you can, and make the best choices for you.
Take it one day at a time.
When you look to your right, you'll see me right next to you.
